Women and men alike can experience pelvic health dysfunction at any time of their lives. Issues such as leakage of urine, bowel concerns, pelvic pain, heaviness/prolapse and core dysfunction post surgically can be addressed through pelvic health physiotherapy. A thorough assessment externally determines how posture and breathing as well as muscle balance through hips and lower back are influencing the pelvic floor. Looking at other areas such as neck and mid back is also key to evaluate and identify areas that could influence breath patterns and posture. An internal assessment of pelvic floor muscles is a key part in assessing the pelvic region, but optimizing the pelvic floor also involves working on many external imbalances through the hips and core. Some clients prefer to start with a more external approach and progress toward internal work only when and if they are comfortable. This assessment is appropriate no matter your age or stage of life and whether or not you’ve had children. Also suitable for pre-natal and postpartum clients.
